• SongTxt – Use VS Code to edit chord and guitar tab files

Started a project this weekend that I’ve been meaning to get to for a while now. It’s called SongTxt and it’s a Visual Studio Code extension that makes it a better experience for anyone who transcribes songs into text files consisting of lyrics, chords, and guitar tabs. I.e., if you submit tabs to sites like Ultimate Guitar, you may want…

  • Matthew Mayfield – God’s Fault (chords)

If you haven’t heard of Matthew Mayfield yet, do yourself a favor and check out his latest album called Recoil. It’s brilliant all around. Here’s how I’m playing one of my favorites off of the album, God’s Fault.

  • Gus Black – Unloaded (chords)

Been playing some more guitar lately and went to play an old favorite of mine and couldn’t find the chords for it anywhere on the web. The song’s called Unloaded and it’s by Gus Black (formerly known as just Gus–and yeah, not me, this is a way more talented Gus) off of what I think was his first album back in 1996…

  • Flyleaf – Justice & Mercy (Violent Love Version) (chords)

I’m digging Flyleaf’s new album ‘Remember To Live‘ quite a bit. I ended up wanting to figure out the chords to the first song off the album called ‘Justice & Mercy (Violent Love Version)’. I’m pretty sure it’s mostly right; what I’m not at all sure of are the chord names I came up with. If real music folks out…

  • Glen Hansard – Leave (chords)

Here’s another one off of The Swell Season album though a slightly different version is also on the Once Soundtrack. This is one of my favorite singer/songwriter type of songs from Glen and it’s one that he wrote together with Damien Rice. Since this is more of a strummy acoustic song, I’ve decided to just share how I think he plays…

  • Glen Hansard (The Frames) – When Your Minds Made Up (tab+chords)

Another song that was released both by The Frames on The Cost album and Glen Hansard’s side project called the Swell Season with Marketa Irglova. It’s fairly accurate I think though not perfect. The chords on the chorus especially are worth trying different forms of the same chords as he seems to change it up at times.
