I recently started getting into video editing again (having another baby can do that to you) and evaluated a variety of video editing software trial versions. In the end, I went with Adobe Premiere Elements 7 and have been very happy with it so far.
I have had one problem though and spent hours trying to get it resolved. At first, exporting a movie using H.264 1080i was working just fine but I eventually started getting the dreaded: “Multiplexing has failed. Please recheck the settings and try again.” I hadn’t changed any export settings but played around with them a bit to no avail.
I found just a few folks experiencing the same problem but it’s clear it’s a problem:
- A forum post on elementsvillage.com
- Same post as above with different suggestions from other users
- Same error but different scenario
- Same error but with a different versionĀ of Premiere
In the end, I tried to Repair the Premiere installation but that didn’t fix it. I then uninstalled it (including removal of my settings) and reinstalled it and that finally seems to have worked. I’ve since exported a couple of the movies that were resulting in the error as well as a new project I started since the latest install. I’m hoping it doesn’t regress again but figured I’d post in case this helps anyone else encountering the same issue and, what I really hope for, is someone finds an easier fix or Adobe addresses the problem in a future update.
