If you’re running Vista and use Garmin’s Training Center software (the software they ship with some of their heart rate monitors such as the ForeRunner 305) you might see this error that says “Access was denied when Training Center tried to read from the registry.”
To get it working, you should configure the shortcut to run Training Center as an administrator. To do this, right-click the Training Center shortcut, click on the Compatibility tab, click “Run this program as an administrator” at the bottom. Things should work fine from that point on.
Update (3/23/07): I’ve found that there is an update that does work well without this workaround on Vista. You can get it from here.

This fix did the trick. Thanks very much for the help!
You are a star, fixed the problem of history not being retained by “Training Centre”. This is clearly a Vista problem as before I upgraded I didn’t have the problem.
Thank you
This is why I love the internet. Nice people like you posting solutions to problems. I would have never figured out how to get my garmin training center s/ware to work had it not been for you! Thanks!
