The Swell Season

A friend of mine is heading out to Utah in a couple of days and might get a chance to catch some Sundance films. He was looking through what’s showing and found ONCE. It’s an Irish film featuring Glen Hansard (of The Frames) and a bunch of new music from him and his co-star Marketa Irglova. It’s written and directed by John Carney.

It turns out they actually recorded an album and released it last year under the band name: The Swell Season. You can listen to some of their songs on their myspace page. It’s sure to be good stuff while waiting for the next Frames album. Now I only hope I get a chance to see the film someday…
