Great fix story indeed, been looking around quite some time now, for the bsod fix.

Seems after resetting bios it loses the Intel Raid/ACHI Drivers.

And also the default setting in the bios is set to Raid, quite confusing when there's just one hdd installed, seems to be normal with Sata disks installed.

thnx Gus ;-]

Hi.

i have the same problem when i try to install another windows version in my m7780n. But currishly right now the computer are working with two different version of the windows the media center (original on the machine) and xp professional (I installed this about 2 months ago) on two different partitions.

I installed the xp professional about three mounts ago, but this version of windows is freezing the computer, so I want to install another version (downloaded by torrent). The another’s version has this error, so tonight I’ll try with the firs version of the windows professional, and let you know if work fine.

I have a HP Pavillion M7670 uk.a PC with MCE. Biggest Piece of crap I ever bought and I always thought HP were the best. First the ram was dodgy and that got replaced under warranty. Now the input RCA connectors don't work. I cannot get drivers for the device as there are none on the HP site for MCE. I installed vista and they half worked so I think im going to sell it and be done with it.

I have a pavilion m7674n with the same mobo, same trouble when trying to upgrade to xp pro 64 bit..found it was the 2 sata drives are connected as one volume, with a partition on one of them acting as a holder of the recovery info. I took the empty 2nd drive when I got the machine in November, formatted it, unhooked the main drive. Then I tried to install...looked to be okay, then got the same blue screen error. And yes, the making of our own recovery dvd's/cd's sucks bigtime! I had to format my P4 w/ht 3.0ghz for resale, it would NOT let me format the drive! After tinkering and cussing, I finally found that the partition that was holding the recovery info was mounted as an extra drive. You cannot delete it via the command prompt, finally found an area in the my computer area that let me delete it..after much searching..then I could format...then sadly, I put in the recovery cd's and reinstalled the OS, before checking to see if I could have used that blank drive to install win xp pro 64 on here.. I was just glad to get it ready for resale. If anyone knows if the mobo is 64 bit capable, I would appreciate it, I am STILL waiting for my Vista Home Premium free upgrade to come, it's been since December, just checked and it said check back in 2-3 weeks..still waiting to be shipped despite everything checking out..what a mess! You can buy the 64-bit DVD that comes with Ultimate off the shelf, I upgraded the processor to an E6700 from the E6400 it came with, so naturally I want to get the best out of the system, since it's all I'm going to have for some time. I don't want to spend the money for the 64 bit dvd upgrade for vista if it won't work. I know the processor can handle 64-bit, but I don't know about this mobo, I did a websearch and this site was the first one to come up. I see someone has Ultimate..I wonder if they had a 32-bit setup and were able to upgrade to 64 bit with this mobo? Anyone have a clue?
Thanks, and good luck All, it looks like it's been a rocky road for all of us with these systems..ugh.

Mike, sorry you had to go through the same "fdisk" experience. That just shouldn't happen to people. :)

FWIW, I've upgraded to Vista and everything has been working perfectly. I got Vista Ultimate Edition which comes with Media Center and I'm using it all the time now.

Thanks for sharing the link though as there are plenty of folks hitting this post still everyday in search of drivers.

Wireless drivers that worked. http://www.wildpackets.com/support/downloads/driver_download/1

Still looking for ACPI Unknown Device. Think it is a media center away mode driver. Away mode driver is not for public it is for manufacturers only. Fool proof bios does not give an option to disable. HP support told me those stupid stories about the FDISK that made no sense to me. I lost all my respect to HP.
