I’m writing this on a sweet new MacBook Pro. I got the 17″ model with 1GB of RAM and a 120GB hard drive. It’s my first experience with a Mac since I was in junior high (15+ years ago) and I feel like a complete newbie–which is actually kind of exciting. It’s definitely a very nice machine and for the most part very intuitive but I think I’m just experiencing the difficulties more Windows experts/veterans would when interacting with a completely different OS. I’m likely to be posting about my experiences and struggles while I get accustomed to it.
My first mission is to get access my domain at home so I can get all of my MP3s and videos from the Mac. My other general curiosity is to figure out if there’s an equivalent keyboard shortcut to moving the caret around while editing text (e.g. ctrl-right arrow on Windows will move right a word at a time). It’s amazing how much one misses the simple things like that immediately. If anyone knows, please let me know but I’ll be hunting around a bit anyway…
