The screenshot Scoble posted recently of his WordPress stats made me wonder if my WordPress installation had the same page but I had somehow missed it. It didn’t. I searched for it thinking it must be a plugin I could install. It wasn’t. It turns out it’s set up for those who are hosting their blogs on wordpress.com directly.
This led me to look for other plugins that might offer similar functionality. After a few minutes of searching and playing around I’ve ended up with the ShortStats, TanTan, and Counterize plugins. The ShortStats plugin isn’t showing any stats yet but looks promising. The TanTan plugin is showing my Feedburner stats but nothing else since I don’t have a Google Analytics account. Finally, Counterize seems to be the one providing the closest to what I was looking for.
Does anyone know of any others that might be worth trying out?

Why not use your webhost stats from server logs? Good chance they have what you need.
I do and I used those solely back when I was on Movable Type. The difference with WordPress seems to be that it’s dynamic (e.g. the page gets dynamically created and sent to the requestor) and there isn’t an actual page stored on the server so the server logs don’t actually tell you anything about how many views a particular post had, etc. At least, that’s how it’s looked so far. You’re totally right though that the server logs are most of what I want.
