Here’s the deal so far. Meg and I got a couple of MPx220s a couple of weeks ago. The day after we bought them, Meg was having trouble with hers. All of a sudden it just didn’t get a signal anywhere even though my phone did. She went back to the Cingular store and got it replaced with a brand new one that has worked perfectly ever since.

Today, I got a new one as well. Mine had gotten into a bit of a rut. Whenever I was somewhere that didn’t have any signal my phone would never again show any signal bars on the display. It would instead just show the No Signal icon. I could still get calls and make calls and actually, while on the calls, the signal bars would show up. But as soon as I’d hang up the No Signal icon would show up again. It also basically made using it via Bluetooth in the car (which by the way has been working amazingly well) impossible as it would report back to the car as having no signal which would never let an outbound call get through. But anyway, we went into the store today again and got a new one. Almost surprisingly easy. It should be this easy, but we’re just not used to that. Thank you Cingular.

Anyway, a new phone means I’ve got to set it up all over again. And yes, that includes redoing the Bluetooth connection with ActiveSync (even though I’ve realized I haven’t used it that much). So at least one of the next posts will be about good web links for smartphones (at least good ones I’ve found so far). I’ve realized that posting an entry always ends up being a good backup for me to refer to later on. And since I’m going through the pain of refinding all the links I had discovered last time I might as well document them somewhere to make it easier next time I need them (and for anyone who comes across the blog in the future)…
